Crafting on the Go

We went camping a few weeks ago and I wanted to take something crafty with me; something portable that wouldn't take up too much space.  I found some old card that I had embossed using some Darice embossing folders, which were perfect for colouring in.  Along with my watercolour palette and a water brush I had enough to keep me entertained in a nice, compact package.  This roses image is so pretty and I love the end result.  It would look beautiful on the front of a card, or simply displayed in a frame as a piece of art.

I joined Redbubble about two years ago because I really wanted to create art and share it.  As my house is slowly being overrun with craft and art supplies, creating art digitally was a great way to express my creativity without needing lots of space and bulky supplies to do it.

I tend to be quite reticent when it comes to my art (which isn't a great strategy), so I've decided to produce a weekly Redbubble Round-Up where I'll be sharing what's new in the world of Merry Makewell Designs as well as highlighting other works that have caught my eye.

I love this "Autumnal Floral Book Stack" by Emma Mildred Riggle.  It would work for a scrapbook page or in a bullet journal or planner.

Geometric Shards

A little while ago I was helping my mum to clean out her garage and I came across a load of my old school books and folders.  One of the things that I used to love to do was to decorate the insides of the folders by sectioning the space into squares or triangles and then colouring them in.  I made this card shortly afterwards, inspired by that memory.

I used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers; BT5 using the chisel tip to create the outline and PL2, PL4, PL5, LV1 and LV3 to colour in the triangles.  I happened to have some card that matched the turquoise marker colour almost perfectly, which I used for the card base.  The sentiment is from an old sticker collection by American Crafts which has been in my stash for years!  I added the faux stitching around the perimeter to help it stand out more.  It just goes to show that you don't always need stamps, patterned papers and fancy dies to create a striking card.
